In filing 2020 1040x I get a message that seems to indicate that an amended return was already filed.

have you marked the EF box for the amended return on the Fed Info worksheet? sounds like it thinks youre Efiling the 1040 again.

when you look at the 1040X, are all 3 columns completed? 

Or did you make the changes to the return BEFORE opening and activating the 1040X?
