Are Gambling winnings that were won a cruise ship taxable?

Probably not. Most cruise ships fly nonUS flags and gambling occurs in international waters.

No, when I asked her to check on it they just sent her a letter saying what she won but thats all

@sjrcpa Isn't gambling winnings income ? Federal law requires U.S. citizens and resident aliens to report their worldwide income,

@Terry53029 Yes it is. I agree its taxable. I was responding to the Did they receive a W-2G question.

@sjrcpa Was answering that probably no W-2G was issued.  But her answer gets accepted because it can be construed as stating that the winnings are not taxable.  

Of course they are.  All income from whatever source derived.  But losses can be claimed to extent of winnings, for those who itemize.  Doesn't that include everyone who can afford a cruise?

Yes @Paul-G-328 taxable even without a W-2G as are all gambling winnings.
