FBAR info (Form 114) not importing from ProSeries 2023 to ProSeries 2024

Hello,

I started the tax season today and unfortunately, I immediately encountered a problem: the Federal info is being exported/transferred properly from the 2023 ProSeries software to the 2024 ProSeries return. However, the FBAR info (Form 114) is not. And it's not just 1 client, it's for all of them.

Is anyone else having the same problem? I would appreciate any help anyone can offer to solve this issue. Manually entering all the FBAR info is a huge waste of time.

Thank you.

Try running an update on 2023, then try and transfer a client with a 114 over to 2024.....mine seems to work fine.

did these clients get transferred into 2024 recently or earlier in December or early January?

Early transfers have been known to have issues with stuff missing, if these were transferred in early, do you have a client that you have NOT worked on yet, that you could delete and retransfer now to see if its still happening?

I only have 2 clients with 114's, I just transferred one of them into 2024 and all the 114 info IS included.  So I think you may have jumped the gun when you transferred client into 2024, I find it best to wait as long into January as possible before transferring any clients.  I only pull my dummy/tester files over and my own return to fiddle with until later in January.

If a newly transferred one still has the issue, Id advise to delete the client in 2024, open 2023 and run an Update, then go back to 2024 and transfer it in again.  Corp basis info wasnt transferring over until an additional update on 2023 had been run, it could be a similar problem.

Actually very recently. I installed ProSeries 2024 around Jan 17 and I transferred the clients today.

Thanks, I will try your suggestions.

I just spent an hour talking to Intuit Customer Care. They said that the Form 114 transfer feature is not available (although it was supposed to be available for 2024) and the only thing they could offer is that I make a suggestion to make it available, and if enough people complained/suggested that, they might go ahead and implement it.

But you are saying that in your case, the Form 114 data got transferred. I will call Intuit again and show them your answer maybe they can check further.

I also suggested the autofill feature for the foreign bank info. They said they would submit a suggestion to include that feature as well. I was told that Intuit was finding it difficult to include all the foreign banks in all the countries in the software, which I find rather a weak excuse not to at least have the autofill feature embedded in Form 114.

Thanks again for your time.

Update: Eureka! I managed to transfer the FBAR data after all.

So, I updated both PS 2023 and 2024 as per your suggestion. Then I transferred the 2023 PS file to 2024 PS file of one client and when I got to the Form 114 section I was asked if I wanted to transfer the State data. I chose NO since he did not have a State form. No FBAR data came up.

So I tried YES, even though there was no State data to be transferred, and viola, the FBAR data was there 🙂 Doesn't make any sense but it worked. I was surprised that Intuit told me that the transfer feature was not available when it is. Oh well. All's well that ends well I guess.

So thank you so much for solving this and saving me hours of precious time.

Yea, the FBAR is considered a "state" return, glad you got it all figured out!
