I think I paid more for my new phone, about 18 months ago, than for my new computer. The computer is smaller than a Kleenex box and sits on my desk, in front of the monitor. It doesn't have a CD/DVD drive because we're supposed to store all that data in some Icelandic salt mine. I could have spent more if I wanted to do something productive in my spare time, like play video games, instead of hanging out here for the humor of it all.
Last month I did have to buy a new cordless mouse. This one doesn't use rechargeable AAA batteries. It has an internal battery that is recharged with a USB cord. It also has an on/off switch so I have to remember to turn it off when I go home. I can't use it when I'm recharging it, but it has only died once. People admire the new one because, like the old one and like the keyboard, it is made of bamboo. "Oh, they're wood!", people say, and I tell them they are stupid for not knowing it's grass. Well, most of the time I am more polite. I should stock up now on spares, before the tariffs inflate the price of everything tech.
