I am new to pro series but have been filing returns with the IRS for the past 3 years so my acceptance letter is over 12 months. My application has been rejected and I don't know how to proceed because you don't have to have an EFIN acceptance from the IRS every year to file...correct or is it because I've changed from a different firm? I can't seem to find a phone number to talk to support.
"or is it because I've changed from a different firm"
Yes, if you have a new firm you need update your EFIN and send a copy of that EFIN application to Intuit for it to be reflected on your program. EFINs are assigned to a firm, not to a person.
Did you get a new EFIN when you changed firms?
You may want to reach out to IRS EServices and see what needs to be done, once you have a new EFIN Summary Applicaiton you can follow the instructions here to get that to Intuit.
Register and Manage your EFIN with Intuit before e-filing
Are you confusing PTIN with EFIN?

I dont think theyd get a rejected application for a PTIN.
If you mark the box that you are a convicted felon (accidently or honestly?😬) you would most likely get a rejection. But maybe Donna will come back and provide a few more details to this drama.
Hi Lisa, Thank you, I did get ahold of support and she said I would need to download the full application from the IRS website. I don't need to update because I'm not changing firms I only am changing software, which doesn't require an IRS edit. I did that and think I'm good now. appreciate all the responses...there is always a new learning curve when changing software, one reason I've procrastinated so long.
Oh good! I had to upload mine this year too, they told me it had been 7 years and it had to be done again....weird, but ok.
