Why is it taking so long for intuit to send returns to the federal and state?

I'm guessing they're sending them in batches. Since they have been stockpiling them and the IRS start date is so late this year I can't imagine how many returns are getting submitted today.

The counting is over, the numbers are very sad.

If you go to irs.gov/bs, they have a counter for how many returns have been accepted today. I think the number is already up to 635. So it shouldn't take too long before processing number 66,666,666, which is probably how many returns have been launched by preparers to date.🚀
66,666,666...
That's the mark of the beast many times over, lol.
