I live and work in NJ. I also have a part-time job in a MD company (working remotely, I never go to MD in 2020). I got a W2 from the MD company for the 2020 income. In the w2, box c show the address of the company is in MD. However, it shows the state as "NJ" (Employer's state ID number shown as '821-xxx-xxx/000'. '821-xxx-xxx' is the EIN number shown in box b) in box 15 and also have state tax withheld in box 17. Does this mean that I do not need to file MD tax? Thank you very much

"Employer's state ID number shown as '821-xxx-xxx/000'. '821-xxx-xxx' is the EIN number shown in box b"
You likely are confusing Fed EIN and State withholding EIN account number. Lots of States use their own numbering system for withholding.
