We had a daughter of a client spread her wings and move out of Minnesota (I have no idea why anyone would want to do that😀) and started working in DC. The organization that she went to work for gave her a bundle of cash to come to work for them in 2020 and life was good. In 2021 she decided life wasn't that good and decided to leave, but on her way out the door the organization asked her to pay back part of that bundle of cash they gave her. I know how to work the claim of right on the federal and Minnesota returns, but is there some kind of magic to make it happen in DC or do they just not allow it? I spent some time looking for my answer late last night and couldn't find it. Anyone have any insights on the subject matter?

A couple of wonderful little birds swooped in and gave me my answer - no credit for DC, itemizing is the only available route. Thank you to my bird friends ------------ do you prefer bird seed or bread crumbs for a snack ----------- I'll put both out so maybe you can have a buffet on me.
Just for anybody searching the same issue in the future (not that they will find it with the crappy search engine), I will mark this as solved.

I'll take seeds.
Deal. I normally send things by carrier pigeon, but they tend to eat the seeds along the way so I'll have to arrange a different method of delivery.
Thanks again 🐦
I'm fine with the bread crumbs. Our African Grey will eat most anything (including chicken).
Thank you too! I can get that order out by way of pigeon ------------- unless it rains --------- those crumbs don't hold up well when they get wet.
