DC taxes withheld from unemployment benefits residence of MD or VA but works in DC

    JWTinDC
    Level 3

ProSeries professional does not show refund of DC taxes withheld for non-residence (MD or VA) taxpayers selecting non-residence filing status. DC withheld taxes due to company headquartered in DC. However taxpayer lives in (MD or VA) but works in DC.I could only get ProSeries to show refund when selecting Part-time DC residence filing status. Is this a program error? Please advise.  Thank you!

ProSeries should flow any DC withholding to the D-40B once fully activated. There are a few things to check:

    1. On the Federal 1099-G worksheet in box 10a make sure DC is showing.
    2. On the District of Columbia Information Worksheet Part II make sure the D-40B is checked AND the taxpayer/spouse checkbox is checked below that. This should activate the D-40B.
