Client misplaced the IP PIN

Hi there,

I e-filed my client's return. However, it was rejected because the IP PIN was missing. My client claimed that they never received it from the IRS.

Can we file the return on paper instead?

Thanks.

did they try using retrieving it?  If they cant get it, paper filing is your only option and I think they'll end up with a ID Verification letter, so that refund will be a long time coming.

I'll let the client know to try to retrieve it. At the same time, I want to try the option of filing on paper. However, the software is asking me for the rejection code and I'm not sure what to look for in the rejection notice.

It's better to use your ID.me account to retrieve your IPPIN.  The IRS did not automatically send them out this year.
