    CA Form 540NR error

    Hi,

My client moved to CA on 7/5/22 from a foreign country.

I prepared the CA Form 540NR and E-filed it. But I got an error message.

I checked the Form 540NR. When I pressed the "Error" button on the top handle, a pop-up shows "1 CA error Remaining message."

The pop-up states the following, "Hidden CatchAll: Date moved out of  state has an invalid date."

However, "Go To Error" function does not work, nor does a red error message show on any of my subsections on the tax form.

    Any help would be appreciated.

That info would be on the Schedule CA (540NR).

Look at that and see if you find the error.

Update: "Go To Error" function works but brings me to Information Worksheet Part II - Main Form.

    Information are as follows,

    (Part II-Main Form)

Form 540NR: Nonresident or Part-Year Resident Income Tax Return (Checked)

Enter the state of residence as of December 31, 2022 .... CA

    Resident entire year

    Resident part of year (checked)

Date Taxpayer Established residence in state above .... 07/05/2022

In which state did taxpayer reside before this change? ... FC

***I used QuickZoom Function to check Schedule CA (540NR). ***

    Information are as follows,

    3. I became a California resident

State of prior residence ..... FC

    Date of Move 07-05-2022

I am not sure what the error means when it states "Date moved out of state has an invalid date." Since the client never moved out of CA but has moved in.

The dates above are correct, if I am missing anything important please let me know.

Does it look correct on the form?

By any chance you input something in the field for the "To" date for "Moved out of CA during 2022?

I come here for kudos and IRonMaN's jokes.
