How do I amend a 2019 return for a new customer?

You need to enter the bulk of the information to agree with the return that you are correcting and then make the changes that are needed.

You are saying, go back to 2019 and enter personal information as it is on the original 2019, save and then amend?

You want basically enter the return from scratch and have it match up with the return that was filed.  Depending on what is on the return, I will lump totals like interest and dividends together to save some time --------- unless schedule B is what you are correcting.
