Has anyone successfully prepared an AAR adjustment and Form 8082 in Proseries or do I have to manually prepare this return also? I can't believe how many calculations I've had to do myself this year and correct in Proseries 😞
Does anyone else have a problem with Form 8082 as a pdf attachment. It appears that Proseries not only does NOT have the form but blocks attachment of the form in pdf format ... I am getting the error message and the return will not eFile ... "This submission contains an attachment or schedule which MeF is not accepting as a binary attachment" .... that is ... we'll not let you eFile this return with that attached pdf file ... and I can find no work around and the help function is not helpful and I found only one or two posts in the community in re:
Package does not have the form...and should.
Don't think package is smart enough to reject form 8082 in 'pdf' format as an attachment to the return if in the Pull-Down you label the form as "Other." [Package will reject attachments >20MB.]
Keep in mind efile for 2025 is not open yet at the IRS.
Thank you for responding .... it is nice to have someone to communicate with even though a bit stilted through this forum.
My return is a 2023 Proseries return to be efiled and not related to 2025 in any manner - a fiscal year C-Corp return with fiscal year starting 2023-10-01 and ending 2024-09-30 ....
I have the attachment pinned to an element of income with "Other' as the type of attachment as my issue with respect to the Form 8082 relates to an element of income allocated from a partnership ...
It will NOT eFile through Proseries .... I have tried multiple permutations of attachment language at multiple places in the file .... and am incredibly frustrated ...
Again and to another responder. This is very helpful. I'll try this and reply to the string. Sad that we pay as much as we do for the Proseries software and for them to be so poor in development of Forms and in communicating issues such as this ... but that is a topic for another day.
Thans so much to sjrcpa .... For anyone reading this thread .... name the pdf form to be attached and provide the description of the attachment EXCLUDING the word "FORM" ... seriously messed up ....
I changed the name of the pdf to .... "8082 Document Challenge xxx" .... and used that as the description of the attachment .... and the return eFiled with the IRS without another hiccup ...
I have other returns that kept rejecting attachments, for reasons other than having to attach a Form 8082 but still related to some aspect of a Form that was not accessible within Proseries ... and it appears that this "fix" works for those issues as well.
