I amended 2020 

Now the taxpayer wants it amended again. 

How can I add an amended when it is already saying I have one done?

There is a check box on the Electronic Filing Information Worksheet for doing a second amendment.

I've tried to amend an out of range return before so it kinda sticks with me!

You stated that the taxpayer wants to amend the return again. What do you want? I have never had a client want to amend an amended return. Never. And I have never done this. In fact it is very rare for me to amend any return even one time. These are my thoughts, you do what you want to do.

I didn't do her first return. 

Yes, now she wants to add her grown son who did not work in 2020 who is getting his Doctorate in PT claim him and add the lifetime learning credit.

Just got off the phone with customer service. 

You do SAVE AS 

Add the word old to the end of the file name 

Open the old return without the name old

Forms remove 1040x

Forms search X

Do the amended return
