Can we file an amended 1040X for 2019 in ProSeries now? The IRS started to accept them today. Anyone knows?

IRS had posted that they would have the ability by the end of summer...are you saying it went live already?
The tax software is not ready for this in any case.
They are accepting 2019 1040X only. You can't efile 1040-X for 2018 and prior but you can efile 2019 now. It is open per release. I just called ProSeries and not sure they saw the press release.
It takes ANY software company a while to implement the new programming after the IRS makes a change.
*A while* being defined as a bit longer than just a week; the IRS made the announcement at the end of last week that they'll be ready late summer. Are you 'sure' they are even ready to accept them yet? In my neck of the woods, June 4 is by no means late summer.... YMMV.
They issued the press release on May 28th announcing they would be ready later this summer. I'm thinking they would have said the forms would be ready "next week" if indeed they were going to be ready today. But like Lisa said, it really doesn't matter when the IRS is ready to roll if Intuit isn't ready to roll.
Read it again.
A press release doesn't equal re-writing the software. And calling PS doesn't connect you with the programmers who are the ones who have to do the new programming.
"announced plans.... available later..."
You need to read more than just the headline.
Just like a newspaper article headline...sometimes thats all that people read and make up the details theyd like to go along with it.
The devil is always in the details -------------------------- but you really have to read the details 👓
