The client was not issued a 1095-A. He was issued 1095-C since he had coverage through his wife's employer. How do we go about this to resolve this in ProSeries to be able to re-file the return?
First thing is have the client contact the Marketplace to ask if they do have a 1095-A for him. If the taxpayer is under age 26, he should ask his parents if he is on their Marketplace policy.
Very often there is a 1095-A (for various reasons, such as mistakes, somebody else took out the policy, they forgot they had it for a month, etc.).
Thank you. Yes, I am typing an email to my client right now, however, I do feel it might be unnecessary. No one is under 26. And they all had coverage through wife's employer the whole year. As far as I know, no one tried to obtain it through the Marketplace, and I don't see a need for it.
