OREGAN AND FLORIDA

Hi to all.

New couple client, husband works and lives in Florida entire year but wife lives an works in Oregan entire year, both has a W-2; what is the best way to file their return also 1098 mortgage from primary house in Florida, any recommendation?

I would greatly appreciated it!

You will file MFJ nonresident, and only wife's income will be taxed in OR. See link.

well, Fl has no state income tax, so you're 1/2 way there.... you only have to read the instructions for the OR-40 https://www.oregon.gov/dor/forms/FormsPubs/form-or-40-inst_101-040-1_2023.pdf

... and  fwiw, OR is generally written as Oregon

 

If at first you don’t succeed…..find a workaround
