I prepare both the North Carolina S-corp and only shareholder's personal NC returns. For 2021, the S-corp has a new asset that costs 16,567 and we have elected to take full section 179 on this for federal and NC. NC's section 179 limit is 25,000, so the entire 16,567 is good.
Now, the NC C-corp generates NC K-1 that shows the share of corporate income (matches federal K1) and shows deductions from income on line 3 which is the section 179 (mirrors federal K1 line 11). There is also a NC k-1 supplemental schedule that shows the 2021 section 179 on line 23f "total". Proseries will not let me enter this amount on line 23f in the NC individual module. It doesn't really make sense anyway since line 23f is for total of years 2016-2020. I'm not sure if this is a proseries issue or a North Carolina forms issue.
Has anybody else dealt with this type problem this year?
Do the forms flow better if you take Bonus instead of 179. or does NC have different rules for bonus?
NC does not conform to bonus depreciation. I spent about 30 minutes on the phone with tech support and they were stumped too. I can't be the only person with this issue.
yes very frustrating
