Printing Schedules 2-5 (half page or less each) wastes paper. Can they be doubled up for printing purposes, the way you did 1040?

Nope, it is not allowed.

From Publication 1167:

"Substitute single page forms should be reproduced the same as IRS single page forms, with the exception of Form 1040."

Personally, I wouldn’t want them too.  Any positive programming changes tend to create a negative programming change.  I’d be too afraid of what they would break in the process.
