Taxpayer works in two states (same employer, single W2). Earnings are reported properly on W2 and are properly split on Federal worksheet. Illinois 1040 pulls income from line 11 on Fed 1040. Where do I enter enter a deduction for income earned and taxed in Missouri?
Illinois
First hit on a Google search. Research it yourself.
"Some border states to IL have reciprocal tax agreements with the other so that only one state tax form is required....................... BUT, IL and MO do not. You file a non-resident MO tax return for just the MO wages...and an IL Resident tax return for All income from everywhere."
IL should give a credit for tax paid to MO.
Did he move so you've got 2 part year returns? or is it a resident return and a non-resident return?
