FWIW I juts keep a printout of the fed info worksheet in the client file...takes a few seconds to add them back in the year you need to....even less seconds to delete them in the year you don't.

I put an N for the EIC and use Code Q for the Dependent type which cancels each other out and prevents the dependent claim, without deleting the info and re-entering it next year. I make a note in the client file about which year is claimed for what.
