Intuit Link New Year Setup

I have tried to determine how I can get my Intuit Link setup for a new year.  The things that I would like to be able to reset/update before starting a new tax year are (see screen shot below):

1. Be able to remove prior year tax clients who are not going to be current year tax clients.

2. Reset the initial status of the TYYY Progress Column (TY24) to "Not Invited" or some status other than Invite Accepted. I want to be able to re-invite/invite clients each tax year with the template that pulls all of their previous tax information or sends the "standard" template.  This does not seem to happen if the status at the beginning of the year is already Invite Accepted.  Also it seems like the only action allowed when the status becomes Invite Accepted is Review.  When you start a tax year off with this status being left over from the previous year it is hard to determine which documents are the previous year or the current year.

3. If a new client gets all messed up trying to accept an invitation, it would be valuable to be able to "reset"/ clear out the Intuit Link record so that the process could be started over without getting a duplicate record message in Intuit Link.

4. Once a client is in Intuit Link, it does not seem like changes made in ProSeries Basic (like email address) get updated in Inuit Link.  Instead it seems like a new record is setup in Intuit Link with a changed email address and the old record (with the old email address) stays in Intuit Link too.  Then it becomes a chore to try to determine in Intuit Link which one is the correct one.

5. Is it possible to start out with a fresh/like new Intuit Link database each year instead of keeping all of the records ever used over the years in the database?

I am probably just not following a procedure in the right sequence but every year, in the middle of a tax year, I all of a sudden end up with a duplicate Intuit Link record which keeps the client from being able to use Intuit Link again because I can't clear up the duplicate record.  When Intuit Link works my clients love it but when something happens that I can't fix the clients get frustrated when we have to go back to insecure email attachments.

I am not really complaining about Intuit Link, I just need to better understand how it works and how records can be maintained/changed when issues do occur in the middle of a tax year.

Any insight, thoughts, or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I've been using IL  5+ years and have about 25% of clients willing/capable of using it. I can't/don't want to figure out/utilize the intended Intuit workflow... it's too convoluted for me... . I prefer to use my own filing system and work flow...(what I like best is I can easily copy all their files into my client folders at once, and most of my clients  correctly label their files)....

I don't get real fancy w/ the clients that use it....   I send them my own fillable organizer and a note....  "drag and drop your stuff into the portal....   be sure the dropdown is for TY 2024 (fingers crossed).... Let me know when you're done  so I can start preparing...  I upload the finished returns and send them a canned notification... (wish I could copy myself into the notifications... but I'm just dreaming out loud...)

Your questions 1-4 are good thoughts... but don't hold your breath...  seems like the ProConnect version  functionality is more robust and obviously the Intuit priority... just consider yourself a poor stepchild... (#4...  yes you have to manually update and change email addresses) Regarding #5...  LOL.   (your might want to put it in the suggestion box w/ your other x-mas wishes)...

<< When Intuit Link works my clients love it but when something happens that I can't fix the clients get frustrated when we have to go back to insecure email attachments.>>   Yup....

For me, I've learned not to set high expectations, so I'm not easily disappointed... .

If at first you don’t succeed…..find a workaround

I have not received any response for Intuit Link Support.  It would be nice to get a response from them, especially my Number 2 point.

There seems to be a great deal of silence from Intuit Link Support on this.  I can always hope to hear from them.
