I'd contact ProSeries and see if they still offer it. I have copies but they're on floppy disks......
lol…. Seen almost everything….. maybe she filed MFJ reporting her 26k w2 and 3 kids…. Didn’t know or forgot hubby had a 100k 1099 for driving his truck…would like to deduct some business expenses from the notice that came from the revenue agent….sometimes it’s best not to ask……
@IRonMaN it was a true tale… about 15 years ago…. Amazing what people could do with turbo tax… she’s still a client… files HOH…. Divorced 10 years ago.
@IRonMaN The Curiosity Rule here at Intuit suggests that the reason for such amended returns be provided as a courtesy to those who will be left to wonder. But perhaps you should refresh your memory on the statute of limitations on, for example, bad debts or foreign tax credit. And of course, if 2017 taxes remain unpaid, an amended return can be filed for any reason.
It could also be an NOL carryback arising from a later year, although that usually doesn't happen beyond five or six years. Except for farmers, maybe. Or is it fishermen? Are we even allowed to use "fishermen" these days? I'd have to look it up.
This wasn't a matter of curiosity. Before someone wastes hours trying to figure out how to download an ancient version of the software, is the amended return really necessary? Does it relate to one of the things you mentioned or did someone find a 2017 W-2 that had some withholding on it that will result in a $12 refund for 2017?
@IRonMaN "Does it relate to one of the things you mentioned or did someone find a 2017 W-2 that had some withholding on it that will result in a $12 refund for 2017?"
That remark might hurt someone's feelings. Please give a little grace.
"Please give a little grace."
I know some folks say grace before a meal, but I didn't realize Intuit was now requiring us to say grace before each post. Thanks for the info Bob.
