Column A will be only one taxpayer MFS totals.  Then you will add the other taxpayers information.

You need to enter it as filed and then save it.  To amend open the return and open the 1040X on the Federal and state if necessary and then make your changes.

Thank you.

Should I be preparing two 1040x forms one for each MFS return, with the respective spouses info in Column A, or should it be a single 1040X summing the prior return figures in column A?

One 1040X.  Choose the one you want to be the primary taxpayer and on the 1040x add the others information on.

@verakw are you planning on filing the 1040X as MFJ? or are you going to amend each of the MFS and leave them as MFS?

Filing the 1040X as MFJ. Wondering if Column A should be the summed totals from both previously filed MFS returns, or only the MFS totals of the one person who will be taxpayer on the MFJ return.
