Has anyone had a problem with 1099-NEC's?

I had two clients that received 1099-NEC's. I entered them correctly on their tax returns.

Before I finalize tax returns for my clients, I let the client know how much tax they owe the federal and state. By the time I filed their returns, the tax amounts I originally had told them changed for both clients even though I made no changes to their returns. The clients questioned the change in taxes. For both clients, it appeared that the 1099-NEC income did not flow to the 1040 form when I originally told them the tax amounts. There were no open errors at either time.

Was there a software update that may have changed this behind the scenes?

The  1099NEC worksheet wasn't prompting (giving a pink error) for a place to include the income (where to link it to), so people were forgetting to actually get it included where it goes.....could that have been the issue, you entered the amount on the 1099NEC worksheet, but never told it where to include the money?

I rarely use the 1099NEC worksheet, I just include total business income on the Sch C, so it hadnt been an issue for me.

FWIW the last thing I do on a return before giving clients a final amount, is review  the Two Year Comparison worksheet for both the Sch C/E as well as the entire return.....and make sure it makes sense and nothing is missing in the current year that was there in the prior.
