When we transferred the 2019 1040 clients to 2020 organizer, we got alot of clients with an error code of 146 that did not transfer. The other 70% of the clients transferred with no issue. What is causing that?

The software isn't ready yet, it never is this early. Wait for updates.
Actually the software is ready for this. If you update the latest software it will now work. I had the same problem with several client files - all 146 errors. That was earlier in the week.
After downloading the most recent version of the software, I am able to transfer those clients into the Tax Org and 2020 1040 homebase.
