    Efile Federal Prior Years

    I am trying to efile Federal taxes for 2017 and 2018. Is that possible using Pro Series?

    Yes but not until late January 2021. IRS efile is closed until then.

    and in January,  2017 will no longer be able to be Efiled. 

    Only current year 2020 and 2 years prior, so no matter what 2017 will need to be mailed in.

    The answers above are for Individual returns (Form 1040).  Business entity (corporation, partnerships, etc.) e-filing is still open for a little while.

    i thought we had until may 17 to efile 2017 tax return?   mine says ready but wont efile.   Seems pro series should say efile closed if we couldnt?

    @cajunlady  You have until May 17 to file 2017 returns but will have to paper file.  IRS closed efiling for 2017 last fall.

    Go to irs.gov and look for the mailing instructions.
