Considering going to ProSeries Power Library from Drake. Any advice? Where can I get a complete pdf of the ProSeries User Manual?

I do see the the TO in your statement. I understand Drake had a tough year this year.

Here is what is available. https://proconnect.intuit.com/proseries/2018-release/

I do not believe that there is a full and complete pdf user guide.

Here is a comparison of all the products https://accountants-community.intuit.com/articles/1606112-comparing-lacerte-and-proseries-and-procon...

P.S. I use Lacerte.

Bill's last job was a Walmart greeter.  He wasn't there long because he kept asking everybody why they weren't shopping at Target :wink:

@IRonMaN I feel that what you said about Bill is inappropriate.  He is a valued and important All Star member of this community.  He expressed what many of the All Stars here feel.

I was just kidding about Bill's comment in regards to the first post Bruce saw on his initial visit.  Bill is worshipped as a tax god by me.

Bruce, I said that because there is often a lot of talk of moving AWAY from Intuit products.

Although the software is fairly good, each year it seems to go slightly downhill.  But the biggest complaint is that corporate Intuit is evil.  They rarely implement new features that customers have asked for, are slow to fix blatant errors, calling customer support has become a joke, and it is quite obvious that overall they do NOT care about their customers.  Their focus is definitely NOT on professional products.  The main thing that Intuit focuses on is trying to deceive more Do-It-Yourselfers to use TurboTax.

As I said before, the software itself is fairly good, but don't expect good things for the company.

Thanks Bill and others.  I am aware of Intuit's support problems via my experience with QuickBooks.  I expect ProSeries to be equally as poor.  That said, if the software is easy to use and more importantly ACCURATE and complete, I will likely make the change.  I and others are very disappointed at the downhill slide that Drake support has experienced and, while I can quickly prepare returns on it because I have used it for something over a decade, it is holding my firm and some others that I support back.

Everyone is looking for the promised land but I don't know if anyone really finds it.  For years folks have reported here that Drake was the promised land when it comes to support, but it sounds like that isn't necessarily the case any longer.

For me, the biggest gripe I have with ProSeries is the time lag between when a bug is found and when it is fixed.  In prior years the lag was short but the last couple of years the time lag had grown.  If you decide to travel down the ProSeries path the best advice I can give you is check in here often.  When bugs do hit, the issues usually do show up here early on.  Good luck on whatever direction you choose.

If you are looking for accuracy, there are a few things that you should know.  As was mentioned, it has been taking a LONG time for them to fix 'bugs'.

Also, Intuit won't program things according to 'official' guidance, such as the law and Regulations.  They wait until there is a Form or Publication.  For example, Lacerte refused to change the charitable limitation to 60% (from 50%) until about a month or so ago.  It became law in December 2017, but they refused to update it until the Publication came out in March 2019.

There is a LONG list of "unsupported calculations" that they admit the program won't do.  The list keeps growing because as we point out things it doesn't do or does wrong, they often just add it to the list of Unsupported Calculations (rather than making the program actually do that function).

As for the developers general attitude towards accuracy, it sucks.  Well, I guess I should say it sucks and/or management won't let them do what should be done.  I'm more jaded than most people here because I see A LOT of the problems via the TurboTax lounge.  There are literally COUNTLESS errors in TurboTax, and there are COUNTLESS times the developers refuse to fix the problem.  While ProSeries has fewer of those problems, both TurboTax and ProSeries use the same 'engine', so if one has a calculation error, 99% of the time both programs have that error.  But from my perspective (and ever other 'SuperUser' at the TurboTax forum), it is EXTREMELY obvious that the developers at Intuit are clueless and/or don't give a :poop:

As I said before, the program was good, but don't expect anything more from Intuit that what you see now.

Out of curiosity, what are some of the accuracy problems that Drake has?
