I noticied that after my client had taken the adoption credit in 2019 and that the client did not qualify for the child tax credit so the box was automatically checked on the information sheet. What happened in 2020 was that the program carried over that check mark in the box and I never realized it until now and had to amend their 2020 and 2021 returns.
