I can add a paid preparer in setup but it does not stick. Tax returns have error that there is no preparer for preparer code entered. Setup allows me to create a paid preparer and does not signal any errors.

Hi @VernonX , sorry you're running into this issue!
Could you please try the following?
1. close ProSeries
2. delete C:\ProWin21\common\SHRFRM21
3. restart ProSeries and enter the preparer info once more
Whether the above resolves the issue or not, could you send us your log files so we can investigate?
1. Start ProSeries
2. Do Menu > Help > Send Logs. That will create a zip file on your desktop.
3. Please email the zip file to proseries_engineering@intuit.com and include your username in the email body somewhere so we know it's you.
Thank you,
Matt
which tax year? Make sure you click the OK button at the bottom of that Firm/Preparer window.
2021. there is no OK button, just next.
Oh, youre going through the initial set up? Just get the software installed then once its ready to go, you can go back into Tools > Options and add more preparers.
I have it installed. Addition through Tools->Options does not stick.
Error message says there is no preparer with code. Code is '1' (Firm 1).
OK, preparer Code 1, Firm 1 then on the tax return itself you have to enter the preparer code as 1 on Part V of the Fed info worksheet.
Correct.
That is correct.
I believe you have to use letters for the preparer code.

That seems to have resolved the problem. I will know more as I progress. Thanks!
Note; Send Logs is greyed out.
Awesome! Glad to hear that worked.
That's weird.. For now, could you email us the file C:\ProWin21\32bit\logs\proseries.txt? If there are similarly named files, ie proseries.txt.1, proseries.txt.2, please send us all of those as well.
Ah - the Send Logs menu item should be enabled when you're in HomeBase.
Done.
