2023 1120S Amended Return Not Populating / Printing

I am attempting to amend an 1120-S for 2023. I check the amended box on the Fed and the State, and then enter the changes.

If I recall, the changes should populate a second column for the 1120-S that says "As Amended," next to the "As Originally Filed."

The column for "As Amended" is not populating on the printed version. It is simply printing another return, with the amended box checked, but it is not displaying both of the columns.

Should it be? Can I use the same ProSeries file to amend?

Yes use the same file.

The amended 1120S looks like the original 1120S with the Amended Return box checked. Then you attach an explanation of the changes. No separate columns.

The more I know the more I don’t know.

I haven't had to do an amended s-corp in a while but following what is needed for an amended 1040 I would say that you need to save the original file then do the amended in a second file. Checking off the original was efiled.

I thought this was recently changed where you could use the same file?

Why did I think there were multiple columns? I have seen it previously, and it is reflected this way on the state return. Not the federal, however.

Years ago there probably were multiple columns.

And every state is different.
