1099B cost basis positive but told it is negative

I have entered my cost basis (positive number) and the proceeds were lower so overall result is a loss.

Why would a positive number be called a negative number? Is there a digit limit? If yes, how to correctly enter large numbers.

There appears to be a digit limit when entering directly into the box for proceeds. The workaround is double-click the box and enter the value needed into the "supporting statements" section.

This topic mentions an 8- or 9-digit entry limit. Can you drop the pennies?

How much is the computed loss?

That wasn't the issue but the computed loss was correct.

Sch D and F8949 both correct?  Positive number shown there for the basis?

If Y and Y, and if the computed loss was correct, what's the problem?

I use Lacerte so Joshua may just be barking up the wrong tree, but the screen shows numbers in red.  Was it the same for smaller basis numbers?  Could it just  be some kind of alert that could be set up by the users?
