I am attempting to amend a 2020 Tax return....here are the "help" instructions.

    (1) open the return already filed.  (I did)

    (2) Immediately save the return using a different name.  (I did)

    (3) You need to be working in the FILED Return and not the COPY.  ( I am)

    (4) Go to the INfo Worksheet and select Efile Federal Amended Return.  ( I did)

    (5) Select Form 1040-X  ( I did)

    (6) The "Original amount column A will show the amounts that were originally reported on the Form 1040 you already filed after you make an entry for an area of change in the tax return.  ( It doesn't)

I entered $25,000 in the correct amount for estimated taxes....Nothing happens

    ed $25,000

I dont think all of that will fill in if youre only correcting for es payments, only the bottom area will fill in....generally IRS auto-corrects from missing Es payments, are you sure you need to amend?

I'm not sure the IRS will auto correct.  The ways things are going; I'd rather get it done my self.

    Thanks, Lisa

IRS will make the correction.  The way things are going with estimated-tax account records at IRS, is the way they have always gone.
