Please allow re-lock after unlock a return

puravidapto

This is a use case for the request to re-lock after unlock a return:

After I E-filed Federal return, it is locked, but I need to unlock it to file VA estimated tax, so I need to unlock it, but I cannot lock it again.

I could make a copy of the locked return, but it will show VA estimated tax is not file, so it does not reflect the final state.

I support this suggestion. If we have to change something on a state, but not a federal return (or vice versa). Or, as we just had, we needed to change the electronic filing for state estimates, we need to be able to unlock, then relock a return. We don't like to copy returns, which is the recommendation in the training article on unlocking. Having multiple returns for the same period gives lots of opportunities for  human error.

We love that returns are automatically locked when filed. It really helps avoid mistakes when we're burned out during tax season.

I would want to have this option. If I have to change something on a state (I just needed to), but not a federal return that does not change the actual return final figures, I need to be able to unlock, then re-lock a return. I don't want to copy return, and have multiple files that could be accidentally changed, or confuse.

I like very much that returns are automatically locked when filed.
