The taxpayer does NOT want to pay via check even though the return was filed and accepted. Now he wants to have it debited from his bank account. Can this be done, and how?

Call the IRS e-file Payment Services at 1-888-353-4537. They're available 24/7:

  • Once the return has been accepted the information pertaining to the payment cannot be changed.

@kreinard Thats only for canceling a payment that you've scheduled, you cant make a payment by calling that number.
