E-file extension date for 990

ADaviCPA
Level 1

Hello. Is anyone else aware of the 990 extension e-file error inside the program?

It is telling me the IRS is not accepting the extension for the 990 until March 17th, which is after the due date for the return.

See attached screenshot.

Thanks.

Altho that doesn't really explain what PTO doesn't let you file an extension yet....but at least there's time to figure it out.

It's an IRS issue they announced a few weeks ago. No extensions or 990-Ts can be efiled til March 17.

Mail the extensions.

The more I know, the more I don't know.

EDIT: Although this doesn't say anything about extensions. I knew about this because I have a 990-T waiting to be efiled. Fortunately its extended due date is 8/15/24.

The more I know, the more I don't know.

That notice says 990-T filers, but does not mention anything about 990 or 990EZ filers.

Are we certain it impacts those filers too?

Is there a notice that specifies all 990 filers?

I efiled a 990 a few days ago for the same client with the 990-T. It went through.

I don't remember where I heard about the March 17 issue. Maybe the IRS' Exempt Orgs email newsletter?

The more I know, the more I don't know.
