Suppress Federal P'ship Return when using the P'ship Module to prepare a state SMLLC return

Bowie

I prepare and file all of my state SMLLC returns using the Partnership Module in Lacerte but I would like Lacerte to add something that would allow me to suppress the creation of a federal partnership return and all related federal forms and schedules.

Why do I use the Partnership Module to prepare state SMLLC returns?

1.  Frequently, the SMLLC returns are ready to be filed long before the individual returns or entity returns who own the SMLLC.

2.  It is easier to pay the state tax due with the SMLLC return and any taxes and fees due for the next calendar year electronically using the Partnership module than it is to do the same from inside the individual module.

3. I used to prepare the SMLLC inside the Individual module and give clients their individual and SMLLC return at the same time.  When done like this, it was difficult for clients to recognize that a totally different business filing took place for their SMLLC.  They understood what was going on when I started using the partnership module to prepare the SMLLC returns.

Why do I want the federal Forms and schedules suppressed?

1.  It is confusing for my administrative staff who are printing SMLLC returns.  They have to jump through a bunch of extra hoops to exclude the federal forms and schedules from printing and/or saving to our electronic client folder and they have to physically modify the invoice printed out of Lacerte to exclude any language related to federal forms.

2.  It is confusing for my tax preparation staff who see a BUNCH of federal diagnostics that do not need to be resolved because a federal return isn't being filed.
