Oregon MC-40 and MET-40 extension payments

susan_martin

MC-40 and MET-40 payments can only be entered as prepayments and if they are, they are then subtracted on Oregon OR-A as local tax payments.  This is a problem if they were extension or estimated payments made after the year-end.  In that case they shouldn't be deducted yet.  Please add a way to indicate the date of the payments made.

This has been extremely frustrating and I completely agree with you. In the event that the client has simply pre-paid the total balance due, we are just editing the letter to say no tax is due, and e-filing the return without the prepayment entered. It gets more complex when they have only pre-paid a portion of the tax due.
