Hello,
I was on the phone yesterday with customer service for a great deal of time trying to figure out how to mask important information. While I was able to accomplish part of my goal (masking SSN's on the organizer), I was surprised to find that I'm unable to mask my firm's EIN number and my preparers PTIN on my clients copy of their tax return. While I understand It is necessary on the government copy, I feel it lends to an unnecessary risk of those numbers being used to file fraudulent returns. Many experts in my field recommend this and I feel it is an easy way to protect against fraud. The fact that your "Top of the Line" program (Lacerte) does not do this will have me strongly looking at other software that does because the risk is just to great.
Thanks for the idea to mask firm ein and preparers PTIN on copy of their return. We are changing the status to "Open for voting" since it is no longer considered "New".
