California LLC Form 568 with SMLLC income

ssellstrom

I have a new LLC formed in 2021 that was created to satisfy a new lender, where this LLC #1 owns 100% of a SMLLC  #2 which operates a shopping center.      The LLC fee is correctly due from the SMLLC #2, and it is impossible to not have the software also calculate the same fee on the same income at the 'parent' LLC #1 level.  (SMLLC  #2 income data is entered again at the 'parent's' LLC# 1 tax return.)   The answer from tech is to force zero LLC tax and file a paper return for LLC #1, because the software will not e-file the return with critical diagnostics.

LaCerte should solve this issue because not only do we have to blame LaCerte for the paper-filing with the FTB, but there must be other clients that have the same problem of 'double tax'.

Why doesn't LLC #1 owe the fee, too?

No $800 for first year either LLC - but there should not be double $6,000 amounts due; only the SMLLC.
