I am having a terrible time with the new uipdate procedure. The updates are automatically downloaded, but then you have to install them. When I install them, it takes forever for the program to come back. I get "greyed" out and have to wait until it turns black to work. Sometimes, the recent update information screen pops up, I think because that is in the background it is adding to the time for the program to recover. I have wasted endless amounts of time waiting for the program to respond. Is any one else having this problem or is there a solution? I called support yesterday, but they had no answers.
That sounds to me like an issue with your computer processing speeds. I would recommend finding an IT person to come in person or to remote in to run some diagnostics.
FWIW, I run Lacerte hosted on RightWorks. Updates get auto-installed around 11p/midnight PST. I only get closed out of the program for max five minutes, usually less than 1 minute. Some people don't like it, but it's worked great for my firm, so it's been worth the money.
I had to turn off auto updates. You just have to remember to do them yourself. With Auto Updates on I had to uninstall and re-install the program to get the program to update. This way you could be in charge of when the updates happen.
What's the RAM on your computer, CPU processor and do you have Windows 10 or 11?
Other than having to remember to do the updates, has anyone found any negatives to turning off auto-updates. I imagine the person running the efiling process would benefit from immediate updates, but luckily for me, I don't handle those.
