This "new" feature for 2024 of the "Silent Updates" are truly problematic and troublesome. Even when setting the updates to happen at a scheduled time (midnight), having the software REQUIRE you to "update" the software when opened, is time consuming, frustrating, and crazy! If scheduled, why can't it just do its thing and be ready to use when we open the program? There is truly nothing "Silent" about this feature.
The program will not update from the Update tool within the program. Then when I download websetup it only shows that I have the Feds an Minnesota installed. Funny because I don't have any clients in Minnesota. I am trying to process a CA return and it says I need the newer version.
WTF is this how Lacerte is going to drive everyone into their hosting product?

Thank you for your response to my concerns regarding "Silent Updates". I have followed all Lacerte instructions to insure that my software is set to handle the "Silent Updates" at midnight each day of the week. Yes, the updates are taking place, however, the only way for these updates to take effect is for me to stop and accept the update. How crazy is this? Why can't the "Silent Update", once downloaded, automatically update as quickly as the download is finished? Why must I stop and wait for the detail to load if my software is open and available for the download to install at midnight. I know that I am not the only tax professional out there who is totally frustrated about these "Silent Updates". Without stopping and waiting for the installation, we cannot move forward. Please reconsider how these "Silent Updates" actually process.

ProSeries does the completely silent automatic updates (no acceptance needed), but it delivered a Silent-But-Deadly update last week and now Intuit is telling us not to open any entity returns until some undisclosed time in the future.
It would have been nice for ProSeries users to have the opportunity to not accept the update.

If the “silent updates” aren’t working well for you, there’s an option to turn off automatic updates and switch back to the older experience where you decide when to apply them. That way, you can run updates at a time that fits your schedule without being interrupted.
