Lacerte: what does transmit with e-file? Does Federal Supplemental Information?

User FIDO 61

A partnership sold its business, and the individual partners are reporting their respective shares of the property sale proceeds. I’m trying to provide additional details in the Client Notes section but am unsure whether this information is actually transmitted with the e-file @IntuitAlicia Is there a better place to enter such detail?

If anyone has insight on this, your assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I found this locked topic: What documents transmit with an E-file? Does Federal Supplemental Information? but didn’t find a clear answer. The Pre-Transmission Summary Report also doesn’t seem to clarify this.

@User FIDO 61Great question! You can use the Notes screen to create a 'statement' which will be included with the filing of the return. These can be set to either State or US (default US).

When e-filing your return, you'll be able to see these listed in your 'e-file Summary Report' as 'PREPARER NOTES (#)' where # would show a number of items present.

You can also view your xml through the e-file dropdown menu by selecting 'e-file support tools' and 'view e-file'. This will show you the data that is transmitted to the IRS. You can scroll down or use (Ctrl+F) to search the page for your notes which are usually listed toward the bottom of the page.

You can also attach a PDF (if you prefer)

If it is marked as a Statement, I think it gets efiled.

But, I doubt anyone looks at them.

Been using LC for years, and I just noticed this morning that this section 'e-file Summary Report' has the forms that are transmitted. I feel more confident now.
