Can't seem to find where a PTET payment goes on 600S form and then how it gets described on shareholder summary. Anyone figured this out yet? FYI, no info appears in form instructions from Georgia. No info available at website about mechanics on S corp form itself. (Instructions for reporting on individual tax return do appear here: https://dor.georgia.gov/hb-149-pass-through-entity-tax-faq ) See question and answer about how you report PTET if interested
Until someone has a better answer--and FYI I've submitted a question to the Georgia Department of Revenue but not heard back from them for a week--I think steps below probably describe a reasonable approach:
1. Check the "Elect to Pay Tax at Entity Level" box on the Georgia Miscellaneous screen. (Reasoning: This checkbox didn't appear on prior year's form. And then there's this instruction, "The election is made by checking the box and filling out the applicable schedule(s) on Form 600S if the entity is a Subchapter "S" corporation or on Form 700 if the entity is a partnership. The election must be made by the due date or extended due date of the entity’s income tax return and is irrevocable after the applicable due date passes..." which appears at the Georgia DOR FAQ here: https://dor.georgia.gov/hb-149-pass-through-entity-tax-faq)
2. Enter the PTET amount as an estimated tax payment. (Reasoning: This instruction also appears at linked FAQ: "An electing pass-through entity is required to make estimated tax payments in the same manner as a C-Corporation. You can submit the estimated tax payments using Form 602-ES or submit them electronically through the Georgia Tax Center. Please note that partnerships are not currently able to make quick payments outside of a Georgia Tax Center account so the partnership account needs to be registered on the Georgia Tax Center to make estimated tax payments.."
Any suggestions on how to do this in ProSeries?
