Microsoft Defender treats W04TAX.EXE as a PUP (Potentially Unwanted Program). Just to be sure I have the latest version, I reinstalled the software from a fresh ISO from the Lacerte website. In order to prevent the warning, I white listed the exe file from a backup. It is unlikely anyone will be using 2004 at this point. I was accessing it to create certain pdfs for my permanent file. I could not access 2004 until I restored the exe from a backup.
