I am trying to make a list of what we are billed for on Lacerte as a firm. There seems to be a lot of charges, and I am not a CPA just working to determine costs so I don't understand any of it, if someone can really break it down.
Are we billed per user at all? There are different classifications as users, does what they are selected as matter for billing purposes? There are some old employees listed on the account is why I ask.
I realize you are billed per state used, is that what is referred to as REP account?
We are migrating servers soon, so I am just trying to get an overview of what we have in place vs. what is truly needed.

REP is the fee charged for extra returns outside the firm license, e.g. new state, 706, ...
There is also a charge for "seats" - i.e. workstations. One office with two workstations that 6 people share is charged for 2 workstations.
Ask the boss for the renewal contract - it should have the breakdown.
