Is there any solution for Lacerte running slowly on an entire network for the 2018 tax software?

The software runs unbearably slow when connected to the network drive. However when we run the software on all computers on the local drive there is no issues or perceivable slowdown. We have tried removing the firewall and it helped the issue but did not completely resolve the problem. Is there anyone else experiencing the same issues or have tech experience that can help resolve?

This problem is new for 2018 but is affecting all tax year software (2011-2018). This is the first year with noticeable issues. We have been running Lacerte for 12+ years now and this seemed to come out of nowhere.

I have the same issue-using a NAS tho, which is NOT supported by Intuit.  I've used it for over ten years with no noticeable slow down UNTIL the 2018 software.  And it was only with the individual module.

I limped thru tax season using a "tennis shoe" network and kicking employees out of the individual module as necessary (thus totally wasting the money I spent on the 4 seats/Fast Path).

The first article linked is TWO YEARS OLD....and my exact same system worked just fine two years ago.

So (at least to my way of thinking), something change with the 2018 program.

Now that I've survived the Oct 15th deadline, and all my quarterlies are filed - it's time to figure out what the hell to do.

I would love some feed back.
Nothing in my system has changed, same equipment, same antivirus, etc.

@abctax55 Morning! I hope all is well.  You're right, the article you mentioned hasn't changed in two years. The information provided is still accurate. Really, the only changes we've made is the encryption which isn't producing any issues.  As you mentioned we don't support or recommend Lacerte on a NAS drive due to the experience you described.  However, if you are continuing to experience this significant slowness in your program please contact our support so we can take a look at your system set-up and determine the best way to help get things moving for you.

Welcome to the community and thank you for asking your first question. When Lacerte is running slowly, this is our goto knowledge base to help resolve it:

Lacerte Program Is Running Slow

https://accountants-community.intuit.com/articles/1862098-lacerte-program-is-running-slow

Also, if it is running fine on the local drive and it is just when running from the network, this usually means that there is an issue between the Workstations and the Server. I would also take a look at this knowledge base for Firewall/Antivirus:

Firewall and Anti-Virus Software Configuration for Lacerte Tax

We have seen and attempted to follow both recommendations in the mentioned articles. Neither resolved the problem. It is also very strange that this slow-down came seemingly out of nowhere. The program had minor issues on select computers during tax season but after that, all the computers struggle to even open a clients account or run diagnostics.
