Indiana Credit 861 - Public Educator Expense not flowing correctly to the form.

We keep getting a rejection for our clients that have the Indiana Credit 861 Public School Educator Expense.  The Educator Credit does not require a certification year/project number/or tax code. We are unsure how to correct this to allow the return to go through.  The spot to enter it in Lacerte flows over to the IN-OCC requiring this information even though it is not required with Indiana.

The rejection reads: Error /ReturnState/ReturnDataState/SchINOCC/INOCCPartBDetail/CredDedAddbackCode: Data in the filing is missing or invalid.

The Resolution Reads: This Indiana state filing has been rejected due to invalid/missing entries for Certification Year/Project Number and/or Tax Credit Code on Schedule IN-OCC - Other Certified Credits. Please review your entries in the Other Indiana Credits subsection of Credits input and make sure you have entered a valid Certification Year/Project Number and/or Tax Credit Code.

Hi there,

For a current year credit, please enter "2024" as the Certification Year on screen 53. This should turn off the IN-OCC when it's not required, and allow you to e-file successfully.
