Lacerte updates in Rightworks for Intuit Hosting

by Intuit Updated 7 months ago

Suggested settings for updates in Lacerte when using Intuit Hosting

Lacerte is updated by Rightworks at night. Changing one of the following settings will help avoid accidentally trying to update.

This option applies to all modules. It's recommended to do this in at least the most recent year of Lacerte.

  1. Open Lacerte in the hosted environment.
  2. From the Settings menu, select Primary Options.
  3. Choose the Trustee Rights tab.
  4. In the User Name column, highlight each choice one at a time, unchecking Lacerte Updates * in the Rights section as you work your way down the list.
  5. Select OK.
    • When asked Would you like to update options for all users?, no can be selected unless other changes have been made that you would like to push out.

This step isn't needed when all Lacerte Updates boxes have been unchecked for Trustee Rights in Primary Options.

This option must be changed in each module separately. It's recommended to do this in at least the most recent year of Lacerte.

  1. Open Lacerte in the hosted environment.
  2. From the Settings menu, select Options.
  3. Choose the Setup tab.
  4. Under Program Options, change the Lacerte Update Notification option to Disabled.
  5. Select OK.

What should I do if I get a Lacerte Updates Notification?

If you receive a Lacerte Updates Notification prompting you to update, check Don't notify me again, then select Cancel.

What can I do if I tried to update?

If there was no update available, you won't have any issues. If there was an update, you'll be stopped from being able to complete updating Lacerte with the Lacerte Setup error:

"The current user, #, is not within the administrators group. Only users with administrator equivalent may install Lacerte programs. Please login as an administrator and restart Setup. Click OK to exit."

Rightworks will update Lacerte at night. If you are having an issue working due to your attempt to update, call to speak with an Intuit Hosting expert. They'll be able to make changes so Lacerte no longer sees that this update is available.
