Client missing from Intuit Tax Advisor dropdown when creating a plan

by Intuit Updated 4 weeks ago

This article will walk you through troubleshooting clients from Lacerte or ProConnect Tax missing from the Intuit Tax Advisor client dropdown when creating a plan.

Beginning in 2025 (TY24), Intuit Tax Advisor will be included with Lacerte and ProConnect Tax with Advanced User access permissions. See here to learn more.

Plans being created for ProConnect users

If a client has been added to ProConnect Tax, but an Individual return hasn't been created for them for a supported tax year, the client won't appear in the dropdown when creating a plan for Intuit Tax Advisor.

If a user does not have access to a client in ProConnect Tax, they won't see them as a choice for creating plans. See this article to learn more about controlling user access to clients.

Plans being created for Lacerte users

Returns aren't automatically sent from Lacerte to Intuit Tax Advisor. Make sure that the return has been synced. See this article if you need help with how to send Lacerte returns to Intuit Tax Advisor.

Password protected returns in Lacerte won't sync to Intuit Tax Advisor. Remove the password from the return, and then sync it to Intuit Tax Advisor.

If a user's access to a client for your account has been prevented through QuickBooks, ProConnect Tax, or Intuit Link, they won't see that client as a choice for creating plans. See this article to learn more about controlling user access to clients

If you have Karbon (previously called Intuit Practice Management) and the Intuit Tax Advisor column in Lacerte says sync in progress or sync remaining data. Highlight the client file, tap the A PCG-ITA-A icon-Lacerte-090182023.png icon on the tool bar, and select create plan.
